RCY room 30 Term4 Week 2 2025 blog

Welcome to Term 4!

Over the past two weeks, our students have settled back in after the holidays and are ready to learn. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and engagement in all areas of learning.

Literacy – Phonological Awareness

We have continued to develop phonological awareness through the Heggerty and PreLit programs. The children are showing growing confidence in identifying rhyming words, blending, and segmenting sounds.

Mathematics

In Maths, the children have been exploring sorting and classifying objects by colour, shape, and size. They are learning to notice and describe visible attributes and to organise materials into groups.

Cultural Celebration – Diwali

Over the past two weeks, we celebrated Diwali, the Festival of Lights. The children enjoyed creating beautiful rangoli patterns and diyas, and listening to stories about the meaning and traditions of this special celebration.

Welcome to week 10!

Soktober 2025

Socktober is  an annual mission program run by Catholic Mission in Australia ,which uses soccer to educate and engage students in fundraising  for global mission programs that support children in need. It is a fun and meaningful way for us to come together as a school community and help others in need. Through our actions our students learn about important global issues and see first-hand how our efforts can really make a difference.

Moon Lantern Festival

We wrap up our 3rd term with celebration of Moon Lantern Festival .

Wishing you all  safe and happy holidays !!!!

Dear Families,

Term 1 for our Mid-Year Reception students has come to an end — time really does fly! Week 10 has been a busy and exciting one for us.

Our children continued learning about rhyming words through the Heggerty and PreLit programs. In Maths, they explored counting principles through hands-on activities that made learning fun and engaging.

On Thursday, we participated in Socktober, helping the children learn about life for others around the world who are living in poverty. It was a valuable opportunity to develop empathy and global awareness.

Friday was a highlight as we celebrated the Moon Lantern Festival. The children were amazed by the traditional performances, including bamboo dancing, lion dance, and other cultural displays. We continued exploring the festival through beautiful moon lantern craft activities.

Thank you for a wonderful term. Have a safe and restful holiday — we look forward to seeing you all next term!

Warm regards,

Miss Cici

Dear Families,

Time certainly flies — we’re already in Week 9! Over the past two weeks, our mid-year class has been busy and engaged in a range of exciting learning activities.

We’ve been exploring AUSLAN fingerspelling, focusing on the letter sounds t, s, and m, and developing our counting skills. I’m so proud of the effort and participation every student has shown — it’s been wonderful to see their growth and enthusiasm.

We’ve also been working on important social skills, such as how to be a kind friend and how to resolve conflicts by being problem solvers.

Well done, Room 30!

Warm regards,
Miss Cici

This Friday, we were excited to welcome our school community to a special Father’s Day celebration.
Dads and carers joined us in the classroom for a meaningful activity—creating key rings with their children—followed by a heartfelt Father’s Day liturgy.

This week, our students also explored number sense through engaging, hands-on activities. After seven weeks, it’s wonderful to see how well the children have settled into the school routine.
