Week 1 in REB

Dear Families,

Welcome back to term 2. I hope you managed to spend some quality time with your family over the Easter break.

We have wasted no time in re-connecting with each other and diving straight into our learning.

 

 

The outline for this term is as follows:

English

Students read, view and comprehend texts. They identify the language features of texts including connections between print and images. They name the letters of the English alphabet and know and use the most common sounds (phonemes) represented by these letters (graphs). They read words including consonant–vowel–consonant words and some high-frequency words.

Mathematics

Number

Students compare the size of collections to at least 20. They partition and combine collections up to 10 in different ways, representing these with numbers. Students represent practical situations that involve quantifying, equal sharing, adding to and taking away from collections.

Measurement

Students identify the attributes of mass, capacity, length and duration, and use direct comparison strategies to compare objects and events.

HASS

Students recognise the features of familiar places, why some places are special to people and the ways they can care for them.

Science

They identify factors that influence the movement of objects.Students pose questions and make predictions based on their experiences.

Technologies

They create a designed solution for a school-selected context. Students create, communicate and choose design ideas. They follow steps and use materials and equipment to safely make a designed solution.

Arts

Students use play, imagination, arts knowledge, processes and/or skills to create and share arts works in different forms.

 

NOTICES/REMINDERS

Reading Diaries: Can be kept in children’s bags. These are optional and used as a way to encourage students to read regularly and reflect on the books that they read. You will be notified when to start the focus words at the back of the book.
