Welcome back to Term 4!
The children have hit the ground running, ready to make the most of the final stretch of the school year. From reconnecting with friends to diving into new learning opportunities, it’s shaping up to be a fulfilling term ahead.
In Literacy, our two new digraphs learnt this week include, ‘ai’ and ‘ay’ making the sound /a/. We concentrated on forming words with these sounds, blending and segmenting words together with writing sentences. Information around this learning has been placed in your take home folders.
In Numeracy, we have been focusing on measurement; comparing objects based on their different attributes and using topic specific language when comparing the length of various objects ie. short, shorter, long and longer. The children enjoyed collecting natural materials from the outside environment and sorting theming according to their size.
In Religion, our focus is on our daily prayer, which includes a welcome prayer, what we are grateful for, learning the Lord’s prayer and ending with a religious song. We have also been discussing God’s gift for all to love and enjoy – our beautiful world! The children made ground collages with the natural materials they collected for Numeracy.
In Technology, we started to look at what a structure is, in particular, a free-standing structure. The children had a go at making their own free-standing cylinder paper pole.
In The Arts, we looked at animal parts relating to Aboriginal traditional dance. The children chose an animal, made a mask for it and moved around like that animal for the group to guess what they were.
In HASS, we are continuing our discussions around the importance of Country and in Science, we are observing and questioning the natural world.
In Health, we looked at strategies for keeping safe ie. remembering our name, address and telephone number.
