Term 4, Week 3

This week in Numeracy we took the lesson outside! We have been exploring MASS and the children needed to collaboratively order wooden logs from the lightest to the heaviest. They used the process of hefting whereby they needed to carry and feel logs together to determine which one was heavier.

We visited the Design Lab and participated in various Diwali experiences. Diwali is also known as the Festival of Lights. In the very old Indian language, Sanskrit, Diwali (or Deepavali) means ‘row of lamps’. People light lamps at Diwali to show that light is more powerful than darkness, and good is more powerful than evil. Diwali also celebrates new beginnings.

We also participated in the All Saints Liturgy in the Hall. All Saints’ Day is a Christian festival which falls each year on 1st November. It is a time when Christians remember all the saints who have died and the wonderful things they have done.
