RLY & RUF Blog – Week 8, Term 1, 2025

Dear RLY and RUF families and children, welcome to our weekly blog!

This week, children demonstrated their progress through assessments, showcasing their understanding in creative and meaningful ways. We are so proud of their efforts and the way they are growing in their learning journey.

The highlights of our week:

In English, we continued to work through the InitiaLit program and learnt about the letter ‘t’ making a /t/ sound. We reviewed the letters and sounds of m and s, and began practicing oral blending and segmenting. We read the book Possum in the House and engaged in craft activities to retell the story. In Bookmaking we explored the different ways illustrators choose to layout their books by learning about double page spreads and borders.

In Maths, we continued our unit of work on shapes and their attributes. We ended the week with an assessment about what makes a shape a shape and different ways of sorting them based on attributes.

In HASS, students discussed their families and who is in them. We then spoke about how we could find out more about our families by interviewing our parents. We then chose one person from our family to draw in our learning journal.

In Health, we learnt about Harmony Day and engaged in various craft activities and discussions about being kind to all people and accepting others in our lives and communities.

In Religion, we learnt about Lent through various activities and discussed Palm Sunday as well as what we would be able to give up for the duration of lent.

Reminders:

  • Kindly ensure that your child brings fruit, snacks, and lunch as we have three meal times each day.
  • Hats need to be brought to school each day or students will not be able to play outside and will need to stay in the shade.
  • Parent teacher interviews are in week 10 (Monday – Wednesday), if you would like to book in please do so via the online booking system as sent out to all families.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and we will see you all back for Week 9!

Ms. Yeend and Ms. Farah.
