Dear families, what a wonderful and engaging week we’ve had in RLY & RUF! The children have continued to amaze us with their enthusiasm, curiosity, and growing confidence as we explore and assess their learning across different areas.
In English, we are seeing great progress as students continue to develop their blending and segmenting skills. They’re becoming more confident readers, tackling new words—especially those tricky ones—with persistence and pride.
In Book making – Students are reviewing their works by following the strategies:
WAYS TO ADD WORDS (Week 6-9)
- Writers add words to tell their reader more
- Big and bold and fancy writing
- Speech and thinking bubbles
- Headings and labels
- Onomatopoeia
- Brave Spelling strategies – use what you know, alphabet charts, listen for sounds and write letter to match
- Strategy of saying sentence on fingers to help remember spaces
- Editing – check that you have words and pictures in your book. How do you know if your book is finished?
Goal: writers will add words to their books
In Mathematics, our focus has been on capacity. The children enjoyed hands-on activities, comparing how much different containers can hold, and using language like “full,” “empty,” and “half-full” to describe their observations.
Our Art and Technology sessions have sparked imagination and teamwork. The students worked to design maps of our playground and are now excitedly creating their own playground dioramas—each one a unique expression of their ideas and play experiences.
In Science, we’ve been exploring how things move. The children demonstrated their understanding by sorting a variety of objects into different types of movement—whether rolling, sliding, bouncing, or spinning!
We’re proud of the way each child is growing in their learning and how they are beginning to reflect on and share what they know. Thank you, as always, for your continued support and encouragement.
