Dear families and children, welcome to our weekly Blog!
We have had a wonderful week in RLY & RUF!
One of our highlights has been practicing mindfulness regularly. The children are learning how mindfulness helps them to feel calm and to regulate their emotions, which supports their overall wellbeing and readiness for learning.
Each morning, the students have also been signing in using our four Zones of Regulation tubs. This routine gives us the opportunity to talk with the children about how they are feeling and what strategies might help them get ready to learn. It has been wonderful to see the students becoming more confident in identifying their emotions and beginning to use different strategies and tools to regulate themselves.
We are so proud of the progress the children are making in developing these important life skills.
In English, the children have been engaging in continuous learning of phonics and literacy skills. They are practicing blending and segmenting sounds, as well as identifying initial, middle, and end sounds in words. The children are also exploring rhyming words, which is helping them to develop their phonological awareness in fun and meaningful ways. We have been encouraging them writing simple sentences, allowing them to use their growing knowledge of sounds to communicate their ideas with increasing confidence.
In Mathematics, the students are exploring different strategies for adding and problem solving, including the use of counters and number lines to support their thinking. They are beginning to explain how they work out their answers, which builds strong foundations for number sense.
In Art & HASS, we have been focusing on an Artist Study inspired by Jimmy Pike’s artwork, where the children are experimenting with colour, pattern, and storytelling through visual expression. This has given them the chance to make meaningful connections between art, culture, and their own creativity.
In Health, the children are learning about personal space and boundaries, developing their understanding of how to respect themselves and others in different situations.
We look forward to another exciting week ahead, filled with learning , growth, and new opportunities to practice our mindfulness and self-regulation strategies together.
