Week 7 – Term 1

A busy, short week – filled with writing, reading, drawing, playing and making.

A quick reminder – Don’t forget next Monday is Harmony Day

  • Harmony Day will be held in Week 8 of this term on Monday 21st March. Harmony Day is a day to celebrate Australia’s diversity. It is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. The ongoing theme of Harmony Day is “everyone belongs”. Students are encouraged to wear traditional cultural clothing or orange clothes.

Celebrating 25 nights of reading – well done to Riley, Riya, Ruby, Jaylah and Allison for achieving 25 nights of reading.

Come Read with me

The students have been using their black bags during ‘Come Read with Me’ – to read and revisit their learning/reading.

During, come read with me the students have been finding the letters of the week in their books. This week the student have been finding the letter ‘c’ and ‘k’ .

Mathematics

Patterns – throughout the week we have been creating, continuing and recording patterns.

Book Making

The children have been busy constructing books this week. The children have included different aspects such as:

  • Their name on the front cover, as they are the authors
  • Detailed illustrations
  • Brave 5 year old spelling
  • A consistent characters
  • The weather

Play Investigations – A time to explore areas of interest with zest.

During play with children continue to build upon the skills of:

  • Collaboration
  • Problem solving
  • Creativity
  • Leadership

Religion

“The Good Samaritan”

After the story we reflected upon who and how we help at school or at home. Then we recorded in our learning journals.

Some of the children’s reflections included:

Mason: I help at home

Soliana: I help me Mum to do massage.

Mattia: I help my dad cut the grass.

Wyatt: I help people when they fall down.

Ceara: I help my dad when he mows the lawn, when he is finished I help sweep up.

Matilda: I help my sister clean up her room.

Sofia: I help my Daddy make eggs sometimes.

Kimying: I help my Mum cleaning up in my toy room.

Emmanuel: I help people clean up.

An Moc: I help my dad clean up the house.

Kur: I help me Mum with the paper.

Ava: I help my grandma bake cookies.

Elden: I help me Mum when my Mum is sick.

Agam: I help my Mum when she drops somethings.
