Week 8
We begun our week with: Harmony Day
Everyone belongs – Together we are a team – which is our focus every day in R MR and R PN
We enjoyed sharing stories, a picnic lunch, making badges, online assembly and wearing orange and our cultural dress.

Reading
The importance of reading every day at school and at home:
- The children get to know the sounds, rhythms and words used in different ways.
- Children think about feelings of characters and ideas in books. This helps them understand their world.
- Sharing books with others builds positive interactions.
Literacy
Word study focus:
- Letter formation
- Sound association
- Word building
- Sentences and creating meaning
- Visual representation
- Fine motor skills
This week our focus was the letter ‘Ee’ and the digraph – ck.
Book Making
The children were busy being authors on Wednesday and Thursday morning, adding words and detailed illustrations to their books.
Science
This week we explored the parts of a plant. Then we drew a labelled diagram.
HASS
During HASS we shared the story “Just the way we are” we talked about our families all being different and drew a picture of our families.
Technology
During technology we made puppets using paper bags. The children used paper to add ears, arms, legs, whiskers, eyes and tails. Wonderful creativity was demonstrated by all.
Numeracy Rotations
Today we explored mathematics through different rotations, activities included:
- Writing numerals
- Number towers
- Counting the value
- Board game
- Numbers before and after
Rhyme Time
Here is a bee hive…..
After we listened to the rhyme we made a list of all the words we could think of that rhyme with bee:
me, she, he , tee, pea, flee
Then the children drew a pictorial representation of the rhyme.
