Word Study- The students developing their sentence writing:

Book Making- We are continuing to learn about information books. The students will create their own information books to teach others about a topic.

Mathematics- This week for mathematics, we have been learning about the concept of time. For this activity, the students made their own days of the week chain.

Science- The students designed their own toy that can move in a particular way. They gave their toy a name and explained how it can move:

Rhyme Time- This week, we watched the “Gingerbread Man’. The students came up with words that rhyme, that used the ‘an’ sound, like; man, fan, nan and pan. The students created their own gingerbread man and wrote some of these words.

# Term 3, Week 5

Congratulations to Monairene who achieved 125 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Mohith who achieved 175 nights of reading! Well done!

Word Study- The students are continuing to be brave spellers and are â€˜having a goâ€™ at writing their own sentences.

Literacy- The students have been learning about the vowels, a, e, i, o, u. They had to write the vowels and then put the words that contained the vowel into the correct group.

Book making- The students completed their books. They then shared their books that they have created this term so far, with another class member.

Mathematics- This week we have been learning about length. The students were each given a ruler. They had to find objects in the room shorter and longer than the ruler. They then recorded these in their books.

Technologies- This week we spoke about different logos the students may have seen before. They had to guess the logo on the screen. The students then drew some logos that they know.

Book Week- What fabulous dressing up today! The students drew a picture of themselves in their costumes.

Mathematics Investigation- The students were partnered up and measured their feet. They compared the lengths of their feet using cubes.

In this task the students drew their family in order of height.

Word Study- This term, during word study time, the students have used their character strengths of bravery and creativity, to be a brave speller and create their own sentences.

Mathematics- We have been learning about length. The students had to place the paper strips in order from shortest to longest.

St Mary of the Cross Mackillop Feast Day- On Tuesday, we celebrated her feast day as a whole school, with a mass.

HASS- We listened to the Dreaming story about Ponde (Cod Fish). The students created their own artwork to represent Ponde.

# RPN and 5/6EB’s Buddy Assembly- World Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Thank you to all the families that came along and supported the students ðŸ™‚. They did a fantastic job and should be extremely proud.

Rhyme Time- We read a story about a seagull and some chips. We came up with lots of ‘ip’ words that rhyme. The students then made their own seagull and wrote some ‘ip’ words.

This week we talked about creating a list book. List books are a list of thing, they are not story books. For example they can be list of our favourite things, a list of animals.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear andÂ  That’s not my dragon are examples of a list book.

# Term 3, Week 1

We welcomed the students back to school for term 3, on Monday. The students, after a well deserved break, came back to school, â€˜ready to learnâ€™.

Word Study- This term, we are focusing on becoming more independent writers and encouraging the students to be brave spellers. The students will have more opportunities to create their own sentences during our word study time. We also are reinforcing the names and sounds of the letters of the alphabet.

Book Making- This week, we looked at different published books and the way that they are organsied. Some were organised by colour, some were organised by topic and others organised by lists.
