Hello RTH and RLY families,
Welcome to the end of Term 2! We can’t quite believe we have already finished the first half of the year! We are so endlessly proud of the hard work and dedication the children have shown in settling in to school life and exploring new ideas and concepts through their learning. We feel extremely grateful to have the privilege of working with them all every day!
Here is a little recap of our last week:
Literacy:
Within book making we have continued with our focus on ‘Ways to Add Words to our Books’. We spoke about ‘fancy’ ways we can write our words, onomatopoeia, using big and bold words and so forth. We also discussed adding words that aren’t necessarily coming from a character and discussed how to write the story line.
Mathematics:
This week we did some revision of addition and subtraction to support this understanding before the school holidays. We did this through various craft activities and games.
Health:
In health, we looked at ways people use their power in fair and unfair ways, having discussions on ensuring we remain fair and use our power in positive ways.
HaSS:
This week we looked at stories written and spoken by Aboriginal peoples to support our understanding of NAIDOC week.
Science:
In science, we looked at various games played by Aboriginal peoples such as Koolchee Koolchee for NAIDOC week.
Religion:
This week we discussed Feast Days, what they are and how they are celebrated.
REMINDER:
Try At Home Books
We have our ‘try at home books’, with last week’s letters and words to focus on through the next week. These books are just for casual reading with your children if you have the time and they want to, however don’t feel like you need to, we do so much in class! It’s just an opportunity for your children to share their learning with you. You don’t need to add anything to/write in these books!
We hope you have enjoy a much deserved break with your families and can’t wait to welcome you back for Term 3!
