The children have been feeling the excitement in the air this week and have been busy continuing their learning and enjoying the Christmas festivities of making and celebrating.
2023 has been an amazing year and I am very proud of all the children and the journey of progress they have made since January. The children are confident, bright and eager to learn. I you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year in 2024.

On Friday the 8th of December is our Holy Family Christmas Carols Night. The students are practicing our chosen carols in class, we are looking forward to the festivities.

This week in Maths we have been revising our knowledge on patterns.
Book Making
We have continued making lots of stories in bookmaking this week. We also started to explore letter writing.
Technologies
This week in Technologies we designed and created our own Christmas floats. Next week the Reception classes will be showing off their floats to the school in our very own Holy Family Christmas Pageant!
Nature Play Mini-Festival
On Thursday we had our incursion with Nature Play SA. The students enjoyed making potions, building cubbies and more! Unfortunately the wet weather meant we had to head inside early, we are hoping Nature Play can visit again before the end of the term.
Today the students combined their skills and knowledge to think of as many words with at in them as possible. There were some amazing sentences too. Well done everyone.

The students will continue to learn and revise the letter sounds and names throughout Term 4. A focus on oral language, including constructing simple sentences and recording them in written form is a part of the English curriculum. The children played dice games with counters today. Each pair had 2 dice and the aim of the game was to add the dots, find the sum and declare which person had the most dots.
Art
The students created Picasso inspired impressions today using some of the unique characteristics of cubism.
Book Making
The children were back in the swing of making their own books this morning. Some children continued to work on their books from last term and some started writing a new book.
Religion
Mary said ‘Yes’ to God when the angel Gabriel visited her. The children drew the story in their books this afternoon.

The children enjoyed the experience of sharing lunch today. It was lovely to see all the wonderful food that was offered by our families. Thank you.
Two students received a very special award this week for their great teamwork, leadership and hard work. Miraaya and Alissa were very proud recipients.
Morning Literacy and Numeracy activities
Ecology
The children have planted out their own garden bed this week. The seedlings planted are lettuce, capsicums, onions and carrots. Mr McCarthy helped the class with their planting and now RMP and RWP have their very own garden plot.

High Frequency Words
Each week the students are introduced to 2 new words that are called HFW. Today the chidlren used the words by putting them in a sentence, wrote the words and circled the vowels and then counted the letters.
Maths
Today’s activity started with the reading of Hairy Maclary. The children used the language of comparison to describe the different sizes of the animals.
Arts | Dance
The students has fun using animal movements and move to the music.
Science
Today the children were asked to design a playground and include the 4 types of movement they have been learning about over the past few weeks; spinning, bouncing, sliding and rolling.
Book making
The students started a new spotlight study about books that teach us, particularly information books. They discovered books about animals, space, trucks etc.

Health and Keeping Safe
The students talked about safe touches and how we have the right to be keep safe. At school we can give safe high fives and friendly fist bumps but hugs, cuddles and kisses are for family. The students used puppets to role play the types of touches that are safe and OK at school. The children also revised how it feels when someone intrudes into our personal bubble at school and that we need to ask someone first if we can give them a safe high five or gentle fist bump.
