Week 7 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! 3/4EH and 3/4CM

This week, the year 3/4 students have continued learning how to incorporate dynamics (piano and forte) into their music.

 Forte-Symbol

= LOUD

Piano-Symbol

= SOFT

Students from 3/4EH and 3/4CM had a go at playing rhythms that were created by other groups. The students commented that it was a challenge to try and learn another groups rhythm however they enjoyed watching other groups play their rhythm!

Below are some of the rhythms that the students created – can you see how each group used piano and forte differently?

Week 7 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! 2RN and 2HQ

The year 2 students have become very confident in their ability to create rhythms using “Ta” and “Ti-Ti”. They have now began incorporating dynamics (loud and soft) into these rhythms and have been using coloured ‘radio cards’ to help visualise this.

Large blue radio = Loud music

Small orange radio = Soft music

Students arranged these cards to represent loud and soft within their rhythm:IMG_0186

Here are some students from 2RN and 2HQ practicing and performing their rhythms using dynamics!

Week 6 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! 3/4DP

This week the year 3/4’s have started learning about dynamics in Music. Dynamics tell us whether to play Music loud (forte) or soft (piano). Without dynamics, all Music would be the same volume!

Forte-Symbol

= LOUD

Piano-Symbol

= SOFT

Students from 3/4DP came up with creative ways to use piano and forte within a rhythm and were able to carefully select percussion instruments to perform these rhythms to the class!

Week 6 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! R/1MR and R/1JM:

This week, the R/1 classes had a go at playing a rhythm as a class. Each group joined in one at a time with a focus on timing. Students had to really concentrate to make sure they were playing their rhythm in time with their group!

Classes have been using percussion instruments such as Castanets, Egg Shakers, Guiros, Finger Cymbals and Rhythm Sticks to play different rhythms over the past couple of weeks. Students from R/1MR and R/1JM focused on the rhythm “Ti-Ti Ti-Ti Ta Ta” this week and some students even had a go at leading the rhythm on the Drums!

Week 5 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! 3/4CJ and 3/4MN

This week the year 3/4’s worked on rhythms with multiple “Tika-Tika’s” and “Zah’s”.  The students from 3/4CJ and 3/4MN practiced their rhythms by clapping them to begin with and some groups even memorized their rhythms!

When the students were happy with their rhythm, they then practiced using percussion instruments. Each group chose a confident drummer to lead their performance.

Week 5 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! 2MP and 2RG

This week in Music, the year 2 students have started learning how to read and play different rhythms. They have been focusing on the notation for “Ta” and “Ti-Ti”. An example of this can be seen below:

Ta ti ti

Students from 2MP and 2RG were able to create different rhythms by swapping around “Ta” and “Ti-Ti”.  The students performed these rhythms to the class.

Week 4 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! R/1R and R/1ET

This week, the R/1 students have continued working on creating musical sounds and rhythms using percussion instruments. Students have began to focus on the rhythm “Ti-Ti Ta Ta Ta” which is slightly different from the common “Ta Ta Ti-Ti Ta” Students have been introduced to the Guiro which is a Latin American percussion instrument. It is played by rubbing or scrapping a wooden stick along its notches. The students were very excited to play their rhythm using a Guiro!

Week 4 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! 3/4ZS and 3/4CP

This week in Music, the year 3/4’s will continue to create rhythms using simple music notation. Students have been able to create rhythms in 2 bar sequences and have been able to recognise and incorporate “Tika – Tika” and “Zah”. Have a look at the rhythms below created by 3/4CP and 3/4ZS!

Week 3 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! 3/4 Classes:

This week, the year 3/4 students have been focusing on building their own rhythms using simple music notation and percussion instruments. Students have been using different combinations of “Ta” “Ti-Ti” and “Zah” to create their own Ostinato to perform to the class. Students now understand that “Zah” is a rest in music and an “Ostinato” is a repeated pattern in music!

Week 3 Music with Mrs Rebeiro! R/1 and Year 2 Classes:

This week, R/1 classes have been using shapes and images, together with percussion instruments to help develop their skills in rhythm and beat. The images were used as inspiration for students to demonstrate how to play each instrument. Year 1 students were fantastic leaders and were able to share their ideas with the Receptions. Classes moved around the music room and had a go at playing new instruments throughout the Music lesson!

Year 2 students have been working on rhythms this week and have had a chance to practice and perform rhythms using the above percussion instruments. Classes have focused on the rhythm concepts of “Ta” and “Ti-Ti”. Have a go at clapping the rhythms below:
