Festival Choir – HUB Assessment

This coming Tuesday (week 10) Holy Family will be hosting a HUB assessment for the Catholic Schools Music Festival. The HUB assessment is a rehearsal where our school choir along with choirs from other schools sing through the 2015 repertoire and it is decided what row each school will be placed in for the Music Festival.

The HUB assessment will take place in our school library from 12.30pm – 2.30pm on Tuesday.  Thank you again to Sarah Michalak for being so accommodating and flexible. Choirs from Saint Brigid’s, Saint Gabriel’s and Saint Augustine’s will be attending, along with Denise Rothall and Pamela Buccini (Director of the Festival choir and Festival accompanist).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
  • The rehearsal is on Tuesday (week 10) from from 12.30 – 2.30pm.
  • The rehearsal will go through lunch time, so our choir will need to meet for an early supervised lunch at 12.00pm in the canteen courtyard. They will need their lunch, water bottle and choir book.
  • This is a compulsory rehearsal and all choir members must attend unless absent from school on the day.
  • Choir members will return to class at 2.30pm when the rehearsal has concluded.
All the best to our Festival Choir as they take one more step closer to the Catholic Schools Music Festival in September!!

Festival Choir update…

happy quote

Well done to the Festival choir who have now learnt all of their 2015 choir repertoire! The choir got together for a day of rehearsals last Thursday (week 8). Choir members were engaged and ready to learn their final Medley and choreography ahead of their HUB assessment in week 10!

A big congratulations goes to Tahlia, Michael and Chloe on their wonderful solo auditions. We had some fabulous singers try for solos this year and these 3 students have now been selected to take the next step and represent Holy Family as they audition for a solo in the Music Festival! Their audition will take place at the HUB assessment in week 10 – good luck!

Festival Choir!

The Festival choir has been busily preparing for their HUB assessment in week 10. During the HUB assessment they will join with 3 local schools in our library to sing through this years repertoire. The director of the Music Festival will come along and listen to the choirs and decide what row each school will be in at the Festival Theatre in September. Our Festival choir have almost learnt all of the songs in their books but they still need to keep practicing at home and listening to their CD so that their parts stay fresh in their minds… Practice makes perfect! achildwhosings

Catholic Schools Music Festival 2015

The Catholic Schools Music Festival is a wonderful celebration of music, taking place in week 10 of Term 3.

The Holy Family Festival Choir get together every Monday between 11.20-12.40pm in their parts to learn their songs for the big performance! This year has got off to a great start with the children learning a predominantly Jazz repertoire from the early 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Songs such as “Over the Rainbow” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Aint Got that Swing” and lets not forget this years medley of wartime songs honouring 100 years since the ANZACS fought at Gallipoli. Lest we forget.

Watch this space for more details and sneak peaks leading up to the Festival including performance dates, rehearsal times and ticket sales. For all other information, including history of the Festival and past repertoire, check out the Catholic Schools Music Festival website!
