Welcome to a very cold and wet Monday. It’s winter time!
Shared Reading
Mrs Handforth shared an indigenous story with the class this morning. It is a story that teaches us how to treat one another. Mrs Handforth asked the children what the message this story is:
Abel: The message is not taking things for yourself but leaving things for others too.
Sahana: The message is that it is important that people share with one another.
Literacy Activities and Guided Reading
Guided Reading
Mrs Papillo and Mrs Handforth guided their groups with reading this morning. Afterwards, the children worked on an activity related to the book they read together.
Making a koala using paper, paper plate and glue.
Procedure: Drawing a koala and labelling the picture.
Maths – number and counting focus
Today the children demonstrated their counting skills by singing out loud, then they were asked to write numbers starting at 1 and to see how far they could go.
Play Investigations
Religion and Art
This afternoon the children listened to the indigenous story called The Rainbow Serpent. We made comparisons with a story we shared from the Bible a few weeks a go called the Creation Story. The students made their own serpents with patterns and colour.
