Assembly 

Today’s assembly was hosted by Mr Norris’ and Miss Stirling’s classes (2PN and R1FD). It was on the theme of SUPERHEROES so it was very popular with our students!

Maths Mini

We had a game of BINGO! Mrs Handforth called the numbers and Mrs Papillo recorded them on a whiteboard as the children worked individually or in pairs to try and get a line of numbers ….well done to Arnav & Riaan for winning the first game and to Lina & Dylan and Nicole for jointly winning the second game.

Positive Education: Respect 

We recapped on the lessons learned by Mojo when he became VIM (Very Important Monster) for the week. We discussed the different ways in which we can show respect for others, for resources and our environment at school and home.

 

The children were then asked to record some of their own ideas in their learning journal.

Science

Today’s lesson was the start of a series of three lessons focusing on changes to everyday materials. We began with a lesson focusing on spaghetti. We began by exploring cooked and uncooked spaghetti, and feeding back describing words:

 

In session one, the children shared a poem about spaghetti and explored the properties of cooked spaghetti. They created annotated drawing using cooked spaghetti. We also recorded words to describe the cooked spaghetti.

In session two, student explored the properties of uncooked spaghetti and compared these to the properties of cooked spaghetti. In small groups the students attempted to created a tower using uncooked spaghetti and marshmallows.
