Harmony Day Monday 21st March

Hi everyone,

Harmony Day is this Monday 21st March. At Holy Family we always aim to foster inclusiveness, respect and the idea that people of all different cultures can make a valuable contribution to society. On Monday we will take time to celebrate the importance and value our cultural diversity at Holy Family and in general, Australia.

Below is a reminder of the whole school activities.

  • Students wear orange or cultural dress or casual clothes of choice (We will have ribbons and safety pins in the Think Tank available for those students who wear their school uniform and still want to support the day).

  • A special canteen orange lunch – pumpkin soup, bread roll and orange for $5. A text message was sent out as a reminder to parents yesterday – the canteen will not be selling other lunch orders on this day. They will be open at recess and lunch per normal.

Thank you

A big thank you to all the parents out there for helping with reading at home.  Here are a few snaps of the children proudly showing their reading log books.

Maths

This week the children have been investigating numbers. The intention has been  to explore what numbers are and how we count collections to find the total number.

Religion

Students listened to the parable of the Good Samaritan. The parable of the Good Samaritan explains that people should love everyone, including our enemies. Students illustrated a scenario at school showing how they can be a Good Samaritan.

Here are some photos from Friday’s Maths activity:

The children played games that develop number recognition and spatial awareness.

Science

RMP drew pictures of a guppy and can now tell which guppy looks like a girl and which looks like a boy guppy. The children checked out all the guppies in the class fish tank.

Wishing you all a restful and safe weekend.

See you on Monday.
