Today we worked on our subitising skills. Some children worked with a partner and played a board game by matching the dots and others worked in pairs on subitising dots and objects.

Religion – Advent Wreaths

Advent is the time before Christmas. It begins four Sundays before Christmas Day and ends on Christmas Day. The Advent wreath is made from leaves which are twisted to form a circle. Candles are put into the wreath. A candle is lit each Sunday before Christmas Day. Students explored what each candle represented and then they created their own wreaths.

Friday morning Rhyme Time

This morning we read another story by Julia Donaldson called The Snail and the Whale and listened for the rhyming words.

Term 4 | Week 3

The Catholic tradition of celebrating All Saints Day.

All Saints’ Day is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. It should not be confused with All Souls’ Day, which is observed on November 2, and is dedicated to those who have died and not yet reached heaven.

Although millions, or even billions of people may already be saints, All Saints’ Day observances tend to focus on known saints –that is those recognized in the canon of the saints by the Catholic Church.

All Saints’ Day is also commemorated by members of the Eastern Orthodox Church as well as some protestant churches, such as Lutheran and Anglican churches.
