Wednesday (Term 1 | Week 4)

Welcome to Wonderful Wednesday!

Here’s our learning for today:

LIBRARY

Today in Library our shared text was Extraordinary by Penny Harrison and Kate Wilson.

A gentle tale about reaching for the stars and being extraordinary . . . but remembering the ordinary too. Extraordinary celebrates the best moments in life: the ones we share with friends and family. They may be simple, they may be ordinary, but they are moments we will cherish forever.

HANDWRITING

Some of us practised forming the letter a correctly today, whilst others worked on the consonant blend fr.

SHARED READING

Today’s shared text continued to explore our froggy theme … Into the Pond explores the life cycle of frogs. The children were really enthused by the illustrations in this text.

PLAY INVESTIGATIONS

SCIENCE

We are exploring the biological sciences, learning about living  and non-living things. We took an incursion this afternoon over to the MUDLA to see some of the mammals, reptiles, fish and other critters that inhabit this exciting space in our school.

We spoke about expectations and rules before visiting the MUDLA and were really proud of the fact that the children remembered to use low voices and move carefully about the room, so as not to frighten the living things. Well done!

The children were invited to sketch some of the living things they saw.

Mrs Handforth isn’t quite sure who the amazing artist is here … but WOW! what super sketches of the MUDLA’s living things:

When we returned to class we discussed how we can group things into living things and non-living things. The children had some great ideas which we are going to explore further in our next science lesson.

Have a peaceful evening everyone. A reminder that it is Sport tomorrow and that the children should come to school in their Sport uniform. Thank you.
