Friday (Term 2 | Week 3)

Welcome to FriYAY!

Today was a busy end to the week with lots of learning, play and fun. We also had the laptop computers in class again for the day! Read on to find out more ….

Shared Reading

Today we read an interactive story called Sam’s Cricket Bat, during which we stopped to sing, do actions, sound out and blend, and write words all featuring the letter b and the sound ‘b’.

We then split into two groups.

Group 1 were using the dictionaries to find words beginning with the letter b and adding these with pictures to make a ‘b’ poster in their literacy books. There are three examples followed by pictures of the children engaging with their learning.

Group 2 were continuing to practise the digraph ch, playing a barrier game in pairs. During this time they also got to practise their literacy skills on the laptops.

After Play Investigations and lots of 1:1 reading with teachers, we talked more about feelings. We watched a short extract from the Pixar movie, Inside Out, and discussed and thought about the colours and characters that match different emotions/feelings.  We then go busy drawing these or our own characters to represent emotions.

Have an awesome weekend everyone!

Remember it’s a special day next Tuesday – dining hall experience day!
