Harmony Day is  is celebrated annually on 21st of March in Australia. It is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. The day is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. On Friday the 24th of March we will celebrate at school with an assembly, a shared lunch and wearing orange or traditional dress to school.

Today we spoke about the importance of the day and discussed where each of our family backgrounds are from. We then coloured and created a crown that we will wear at the assembly on Friday.

Buddies:

On Thursday we met up with our year 4 buddies. We learnt each others names and ages, recording what each of us looked like. We have pasted this buddy sheets in the children’s home learning books so they can share this with their family.

We loved seeing and talking about everyones outfits for our dress up Harmony Day. We had an outside picnic with all the year 1 classes. We were so proud of so many children trying the butter chicken and jelly… yum!!
