History – how times change

This week in our History lessons, we have been discussing what life was like at home and at school for people from the past.  As a group, we created a list of questions that children might like to ask their parents/grandparents or family members, friends or neighbours of that generation.

The children were asked to choose 3 of the following questions and provide their person’s answers on a piece of paper.  We will discuss the answers in our History lessons next week.

Questions for our parents/grandparents about life when they were young:

  • What did you do for fun when you were young?
  • How did you get to school?
  • Where did you go to school?
  • What did your house look like?
  • How old were you when the television came out?
  • What did you learn about when you were young?
  • What kind of toys did you have?
  • What did your bedroom look like?
  • Tell me about your teacher.
  • What year were you born and where?
  • What did your school look like?
  • How old were you when you started and finished school?
  • Who were your friends when you were young?
