  1. What calendar do Chinese people follow?

    The Chinese people don’t follow normal calendars that Australia uses the Chinese people follows the Lunar Calendar which follows the phases of the moon.  The Lunar Calendar doesn’t follow the days, months and years as the normal calendar does also The Lunar New Year is held on the second full moon in winter. The date is also the start of the spring harvest.

2.What are some ways the Chinese/Vietnamese people celebrate their New Year?

Some ways the Chinese/Vietnamese people celebrate are to hang red lanterns bang drums and light fireworks it is believed that an ancient beast named Nian, every year at the end of winter Nian would emerge from the mountains  and terrorize people until one day a man came up with an idea to scare away the Nian. The plan was to hang up red lanterns and bang drums and light fireworks and the plan worked.
