So Far this Term……..

As we delve into the new term, we promoting the growth and learning opportunities that await our children at the Out of School Hours Care (OSHC). Our commitment to fostering an environment that nurtures children’s well-being. This has led us to emphasis two key areas: enhancing social interaction skills and celebrating cultural diversity.

Enhancing Social Interaction Skills

The importance of developing strong social skills fin young people is the foundation for building relationships, understanding empathy, and navigating the complexities of social dynamics. By limiting screen time, we aim to provide ample opportunities for our children to engage in conversations, collaborate on projects, and simply enjoy the spontaneity of play. This initiative is designed to not only enrich their OSHC experience but to equip them with skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.

Emphasis Positive Transitions

Transition times, such as moving from school to OSHC and vice versa, are pivotal moments in a child’s day. Recognising this, we’ve focused on ensuring these transitions are as smooth and positive as possible. Our strategy includes encouraging children to sign in and partake in outdoor activities before diving into the structured programs awaiting them.

Celebrating Cultural Diversity

A highlight of this term has been our deep dive into various cultural celebrations, which has significantly enriched our OSHC environment. From crafting dragons for the Vietnamese New Year to composing Kindness Messages for February and creating Valentine’s cards, our children have embarked on a journey of cultural exploration and appreciation. Encouraging our students to express themselves through acrostic poems using positive words has not only boosted their self-esteem but also enhanced their understanding and respect for diversity. Witnessing our older children actively participate in shaping the OSHC program has been particularly rewarding. Their involvement ensures that our activities are not only fun but also reflective of the diverse interests and backgrounds of our community.

By focusing on enhancing social interactions and celebrating cultural diversity, we are not just providing care; we are shaping a generation of thoughtful, confident, and inclusive individuals. This term, we look forward to continuing this journey, filled with learning, laughter, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime.

Thank You

OSHC TEAM
