What’s happening in OSHC

Sensory Play

In the afternoons at OSHC, children are fully immersed in a vibrant sensory world, engaging in activities that are as educational as they are delightful. Using couscous and ground coffee beans, they created miniature landscapes of dirt and pebbles, transforming the room into a bustling construction site for their toy trucks.  The children are creative with building roads and dumping dirt, each child contributing to an ever-evolving story.

Children continued with an extraordinary fusion of worlds at the penguin vs. tigers table, where pasta, gum nuts, and cotton balls became the snow, dirt, and sand of an integrated environment. The children navigated the complexities of two disparate ecosystems, conA close up of a toy

Children collaborated to make cloud dough, delving into the properties of their creations with the enthusiasm of young scientists. They described it as sticky and soft, marvelled at its pliability, and experimented with its capabilities by stretching and moulding it into various shapes. Their imaginative journey even led them to the idea of making pizzas out of the dough, blending the realms of play and culinary arts.

Sensory play, with its endless possibilities, proved once again to be an essential element of childhood development, fostering a love for learning and an appetite for discovery that will serve them well beyond their OSHC adventures.
