Come Read with Me

We began the morning by reading our books during Come Read with Me.

At home tip: You can read for 20 minutes with your library books or the books you have at home. You can read to you or a sibling, you can even read to your favourite teddy! Remember to use the pictures to help tell the story and to look for words and letters that you know.

For families that speak another language at home, you can access some stories online in your own language via this website; https://worldstories.org.uk/library
We encourage children to learn many languages and think that is is beneficial for you to speak and share language in a language that you may have learned as a child

Shared Reading

We read our Shared Reading book and tried to spot our word of the week “love”, every time we saw our word of the week we clapped. This gives us a chance to identify the word quickly in a text.

At home tip; you can access this text from home via YouTube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4vEj8TMkW4
Can you find the word “love” in the text?

“Love is” reflection

Following on from our Shared Reading Book “Koala Lou” we reflected on what love means…

We watched a YouTube clip to begin with.

What is love?

Emily; When you love something or someone

Zac; You can love your friends, your family, your cousins or anyone that you’d like to love

Nahom; Love is that someone gives you a present and you love it and you love them for giving you a present

Nyok: Like when you really do love someone

Zac; You love somebody in your life that you like and you share things. Sharing love around and giving love to the people and friends and family and you can love other people

Massa; love means when it’s your birthday they give you a surprise or present and you love them so much

Nahom; If you love someone you can share something with your friends and you can give them something and if you love them you can be friends with them

Bodhi; My brother gave me Lego and I bought him an apple watch, that’s love because we all have to share

We reflected in our learning journals about what love is…

At home tip; reflect on what love means to you? can you record it on a piece of paper or in a book? We started by writing “Love is” at the top of our page, some of us finished the sentence and other reflected through drawing…

Numeracy

We explored our Number based Numeracy Investigations.

At home tip; Have a look at our blog from Monday to see our numeracy focuses for this week and to see ideas of how you can access this learning at home: https://blogs.holyfamily.catholic.edu.au/r1gtr1ma2020/2020/03/30/monday-30th-march-2020/
There are also some resources on last Wednesday’s blog; https://blogs.holyfamily.catholic.edu.au/r1gtr1ma2020/2020/03/25/wednesday-25th-march-2020/

Mindfulness

At home tip; Spend some time to slow down and calm your body. You can calm your body through guided meditations, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KF4rWQE8HU

Investigations

At home tip; This is a time for you to explore your interests through play. Think about what you can use at home. If mum lets you, you could even do some cooking or help out with other things we do around the house. Remember that no matter what were doing we are always learning. You could use Lego to make and build. You could draw pictures. You could even teach a sibling or your favourite teddy something new! What are your ideas for Investigations at home?
