Welcome to the final day of Week 9!

Today we watched a virtual assembly via iMovie prepared by 3HS and 3NP. Thank you to the students who worked so hard and independently to prepare this for us.

Today we practised our adding skills, creating our own number sentences and adding two or more digits to find a total. We also practised the skill of counting on from the highest digit. The children could select from multilink cubes, c outliers, dice and playing cards.

If you are learning at home then you may have a set of playing cards or some dice you can use to make addition number sentences.

SPACE JIGSAW

Several of us collaborated to solve a 42 piece jigsaw. After we completed the jigsaw, we used magnifying glasses to find different objects around the edge of the jigsaw that featured in the main picture.

Students have been enjoying sharing a couple of readers one-to-one with their teachers. It has been wonderful to see how proud children have been to show us their certificates and stickers awarded from the Home Reading Record Books. Please continue to read daily with and to you your child – ten minutes a day well spent.

OOBLECK

This afternoon we made a batch of blue oobleck and explored its properties. If you could like to make some at home, it is simple and easy, requiring only some cornflour, water and a drop of your favourite colour food colouring. Lots of fun from a little mixing.

SIGHT WORDS (HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS)

SIGHTWORDS.COM has a collection of sight words games that offer children opportunities to build toward mastery while also keeping them engaged and having fun. In general, it is recommended using a mix of recently introduced words and some known words for review.
