Friday (Term 2 | Week 6)

Welcome to a very chilly morning and a very sunny winter’s day.  The long weekend is ahead so let’s enjoy the day by learning and sharing and being kind to one another.

Numeracy

Today we investigated subtraction in numeracy.  Some children said it can also be called take-away or minus.  We started by looking at a Ten Frame and counting how many squares it has.  It didn’t matter what way we looked at it, it always had 10 squares.  We used the Ten Frame to help us understand subtraction.  When we took a counter off the frame we could see how many counters were left.  The children were encouraged to record.

World Environment Day

Today is World Environment Day and the students talked about how we can look after the environment and how we can make things better for the world that God created for us.

Arnav: Don’t let the tap run with water for too long.

Eerat: Water the plants so they will not die.

Tri:  Don’t waste water, keep it and use drinks bottles.

Nicole: Put my straws in the bin or don’t use them at all because they are plastic.

Victoria: Recycle paper because it comes from trees.

Briaden: Pick up the rubbish off the floor and put it in the bin.

Play Investigations

Art

Mrs Handforth introduced some Aboriginal symbols to the children this afternoon.  The children had a try at drawing them too and they did an amazing job drawing and labelling.  The skills learned this afternoon will be used next week for something even bigger and better!!

Fitness

We ventured to the oval, log park and the sand pit for some afternoon fitness.
