Tuesday (Term 2 | Week 8)

Welcome to terrific Tuesday everyone.

Congratulations to Isabella on achieving 125 nights of reading.

Shared Reading

This morning Mrs Handforth read the story My Two Blankets.

My Two Blankets’ tells the story of a young girl who is trying to transition between her old and new world. Cartwheel, as her auntie used to call her, has immigrated to a new country and her blanket is a metaphor for the culture she knows and feels safe in. Cartwheel then creates a new blanket with what she learns about her new culture, as she starts to feel more comfortable in her new world. This is a beautiful story exploring the need to belong and the power of language.

The children were asked to create and design their own blanket, recording the happy memories or things if they had to move from their homes and take a blanket with them.

Class Dining Hall

For lunch today we ate a yummy pasta dish with garlic bread and for dessert we ate orange flavoured  jelly.  We ate the food  at our tables in the classroom today.  Before were ate, Mrs Handforth said a lovely prayer, thanking God for the food we were about to eat.
