Friday (Term 3 | Week 4)

Welcome to Friday of Week 4

Congratulations to Abel who has achieved his 100 books read at home award and to Williams who has achieved 75. Well done to both boys!

Congratulations also to Victoria on her awesome reading efforts over the past few weeks.  Great reading Victoria and a well-earned special certificate from your teacher.

ASSEMBLY

Today it was the turn of buddy classes 3NP and R/1MA to present their learning at assembly.  The assembly was themed on the topic of FRIENDS. Some children reflected in their learning journals about what they liked or learned about at assembly this morning.

POSITIVE EDUCATION: GRATITUDE

Continuing the theme of gratitude from last week, today we shared another story. This week we shared  ‘The Thank You Book’ by Mo Willems.

Gerald is careful. Piggie is not. Piggie cannot help smiling. Gerald can. Gerald worries so that Piggie does not have to. Gerald and Piggie are best friends. In ‘The Thank You Book’  Piggie wants to thank EVERYONE. But Gerald is worried Piggie will forget someone . . . someone important. …

We reflected on the people in our lives who do lots of things for us. The children chose one person to make a THANK YOU card for to express their gratitude to that person. Each child was given a little card and envelope, which they customised for their special person …. some of our parents may get a special little something in their child’s bag today.

PLAY INVESTIGATIONS

There were many children writing and creating today.  Some children enjoyed making books and others used clay to make an echidna or another animal of their choice.

Today it was the turn of buddy classes 3NP and R/1MA to present their learning at assembly.

BUDDIES | ASSEMBLY PREPARATION

Another session with our Year 5/6 buddies in preparation for our class assemblies in Week 6 and Week 7.

DAYS OF THE WEEK GAME

To finish up the day, the children played a circle game that helps them learn the days of the week … Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday … SIT DOWN SUNDAY! The last child standing is the winner … today that was Isla!

Happy weekend, everyone!
