Thursday (Term 1 | Week 1)

It was a pleasure to meet all our students today; Hayley and I have had a wonderful day getting to know the children. A special mention for, and welcome to Logan and Hunter, who joined Holy Family today in 3HS.

MORNING ORGANISATION
We begin each school day by sharing our learning timetable and class calendar with our students. This is also an opportunity for students to ask any questions they may have about their learning for the day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
The first day of the academic year is always a special day, but for one of our students it was also special for another reason … We all wished Manasvi a very happy 8th birthday.

WELCOME CARDS

At Holy Family all classes are linked with another class each academic year – they are known as buddy classes. This year 3HS are buddying up with RMR (Mrs Rodgers’ Reception Class) and  3JH  with RPN (Mr Norris’ Reception Class). This gives all our Year 3 learners the opportunity to be a BIG buddy, and for some of them this is their first time being the ‘big’ buddy in the partnership. Today we started making welcome cards to present to our little buddies.

During our tour, we took a stroll out to the new basketball and netball courts in Grevillia Park. Some children stayed there with Mrs Stam for some ball game fitness, whilst others chose to join Mrs Handforth at Log Park.

SHARED READING

We shared a story today called Old Friends, New Friends about a girl who finds herself in a class with different students from the year before, but then catches up with her old friends at recess and lunch.

It was special today to see so many of the children meeting, greeting and reuniting with old friends!

PLAY, MAKE, DO (PMD)

Every Thursday in PMD, the children choose what they want to play, make and/or do. We have a range of activities, games and resources available for the children. Everyone got busy! It also gave the children an opportunity to relax, chat with old friends and socialise with new friends.

SPECIALIST LESSONS/LIBRARY

We sent an email to all parents today with information about specialist lessons and library borrowing. The same information is uploaded to the blog here:

Thank you, Year 3 students, for a fabulous first day; we look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.
