Tuesday (Term 1 | Week 2)

Welcome to Tuesday of Week 2.

MUSIC
Today the students enjoyed their first music lesson with our new specialist music teacher, Mr Walker. Here’s 3JH all ready for their first lesson:

LETTERS
Whilst teachers undertook initial reading with some students, others continued to compose their letter to their teacher, containing information about themselves, their interests, families and hopes for the year.

BOOKMAKING
Students continued with their bookmaking today. There are some interesting titles to be found around the classroom! Here’s a small selection:

GUITAR
Kobe started guitar lessons today. He was very excited about his first lesson, and he shared his new learning with Mrs Handforth when he got back to class. He had learned how to play three notes: EFG

FITNESS

READING WORKSHOP
We shared the second chapter of our class novel, in which Plop discovers the DARK IS KIND. On Thursday the students will be recording the facts they have learned about Plop, the baby barn owl, from reading the first two chapters of the text.

SCIENCE
Mrs Stam introduced the concepts of living and non-living to the class.
The students then had the challenge of sorting a range of images into these categories. There were some interesting discussions around a picture of a globe and a wooden chair. Living or non living? Opinions were divided, but the majority of students decided these were non-living, although many agreed that when the wood had been a tree it was living.
Mrs Stam then challenged the students to explore their immediate environment outside the classroom, recording non-living and living things. Their recordings will provide discussion for our next lesson.
