Thursday (Term 1 | Week 2)

Welcome to fabulous Thursday in Rooms 23 and 24.

Here’s our learning for Thursday, Week 2:

NUMERACY
We continued learning about place value through games and activities.

ART
We embarked on the first of various self-portraits we are going to be creating in an art unit centred around identity. We began by discussing what a self-portrait is and then we looked at examples of a famous painter’s self portraits, with examples which he completed across his life. Meet Picasso across the years …- from age 15 to age 90.

Enter Mr Slater, who showed us some self portraits he did in the summer holidays … and one was actually in the style of Picasso!

Today we made our backgrounds and completed some statements about ourselves on our laptops. Finally, we also posed for a photograph – the pose had to reflect our personality and/or how we wish to present our identity statements. We will be putting all these elements together tomorrow and will post the finished products on the blog then. Watch this space.

Art took longer than expected and the rain began to fall, so we had to abandon outdoor fitness today.

PLAY, MAKE, DO
Being an even numbered week, the children were allowed to use their laptops in Play, Make, Do. However, lots chose to explore other areas of learning too.
