Tuesday (Term 1 | Week 7)

WELCOME TO WEEK 7 …
we hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable long weekend.

MUSIC/WELLBEING SURVEY
We enjoyed our weekly Music lesson, and also answered a brief survey (Catholic Education SA) about our wellbeing at school.

WRITER’S WORKSHOP
We continued with our Spotlight Study, Read Like a Writer. Today’s mini lesson focused on the use of speech bubbles.

We began with a ‘turn and talk activity’ discussing what we do when we want a character to speak. here are some of our thoughts:

We discussed examples of speech bubbles from mentor texts, including features such as shape, size, colour and placement. We then continued with our bookmaking, noting any opportunities to use speech bubbles in our compositions. In our reflection, we shared examples of our use of speech bubbles.

READING WORKSHOP: CLASS NOVEL
After fitness (noodle tag and/or volleyball), we read some more of The Twits, which we are all enjoying. Today’s favourite laugh was reserved for the four little boys who sneaked into the Twits’ garden and got stuck up the tree on the glue Mr Twit had smeared on the branches. Fearing Mr Twit would make a BOY PIE, they climbed out of their trousers and ran away …

SCIENCE
After mindfulness, a final session to finalise our animal inquiry information reports. We have completed these in a variety of formats including posters, iMovies, multimedia presentations and authoring our own books. We have chosen a wide variety of animals, insects, birds and reptiles – watch out David Attenborough!

Leo created his information report about Gorillas on a model of a gorilla that he made out of recycled boxes – very creative!
