Wednesday – Week 8 – Term 2

A snapshot of our learning today

Our shared text: Room on a broom

Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson

The witch and her cat are happily flying through the sky on a broomstick when the wind picks up and blows away the witch’s hat, then her bow, and then her wand!  Luckily, three helpful animals find the missing items, and all they want in return is a ride on the broom.  But is there room on the broom for so many friends?  And when disaster strikes, will they be able to save the witch from a hungry dragon?

This a fun story with wonderful rhyme and repetition.

One of the tasks today was exploring our shared text (Room on a broom) with our 100 languages of learning.

The children demonstrated

  • Collaboration as they shared ideas, space and resources
  • Persistence as they created all the characters that sat on the broom.
  • Perseverance   as they drew the characters on activinspire
  • Problem solving as they recreated the story
  • Oral Languages as they retold the story using photo booth
  • Independence as they directed their learning into engaging tasks.
  • Leadership as they helped others
  • Creativity as they came up with new ideas.
  • Sense making as they put their ideas together.
  • Fine motor coordination as they added details and cut out shapes.
  • Curiosity as they explored new ideas.

It is wonderful to observe these learning dispositions flourish as the children develop essential life skills.

The children also displayed kindness, leadership and collaboration as we welcomed and engaged with the new reception children this morning during their 2nd transition visit.

Have a wonderful night and we will see you tomorrow.
