Home Learning | Thursday 22/7/21 | Term 3 | Week 1

Good morning  everyone, I hope you are happy and well.  Here is our learning for the day.  Remember, it is important to have regular breaks, participate in some physical activity and include some fun in your day. If you can, take a photo of your learning and upload it to RMP’s Blog or email photos to Mrs Papillo and I will share them on our blog for you all to see.

IMPORTANT!

1) Lessons and activities may be completed in any order and whenever is convenient for you and your child. Your child has regular breaks and play times at school. We encourage you to provide fitness breaks, walks and free play opportunities in between learning sessions.

2) We ask that you keep your child’s learning in a safe place (such as a work book or a folder) to bring into school when he/she returns to school. Alternatively, you may wish to send me a photograph of their learning by email.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Discuss the quote with a friend, sibling or adult in your family: What kind words could you give to people today? How will your words make them feel better? Has anyone said kinds words to you today? How did it make you feel?

English –  reading and phonics.

Watch the following videos to revise our letter sounds for this week:

Now have a try writing a few letters, both the upper and lower case, in your little books.

Reading and Writing

Read one of your readers and look for words containing and then copy them into you little book. See how many you can find. Then, read you reader out loud to your doll, teddy or grown up.

You may like to write a sentence to two using some of the s words that you found.

Shared Reading

Please click on the picture below and listen to the story of a boy and his grandpa sharing a day together at the beach.

Book Reflection:

Can you think of a time when you went somewhere with your family? Did you go to the beach or somewhere else like the park, the zoo, a party or camping?  Please draw your memory or write a story about the occasion.

Art – how to draw a dog.

Follow the steps below and add your own details to make your dog look cute and unique.

Maths

Let’s warm up with some tally trains.

Graphing

Can you count and graph how many chairs, tables, doors, windows and TVs you have in your house. You could make a table or graph like the graphs we have been making in class. Or how about making a graph like the one below, you could make one for the names of the people in your family.

Religion

Here is the story from the Old Testament called Noah’s Ark.

What do you think God wanted Noah to do?

Why did Noah take 2 of every animal?

What does a rainbow remind you of?

Activity: draw the story of Noah’s Ark and include the characters and some of the animals that Noah put on the ark.

Or you can use this printable:

Noah-1

Health & Keeping Safe

Here is a song that the class will be learning as part of learning about our bodies and that our bodies are private and we all have the right to feel safe.  There is also a Kaurna version of the song.

Being Grateful

Let’s finish our day with a reflection or you can write a grateful prayer.

Trace around your hand in your purple book or on a piece of paper.

Can you write or draw five things you are grateful for.

Mrs Papillo is grateful for:

I am grateful for my family; my mum and dad too!

I am grateful for my wonderful job and the beautiful people I meet each and every day.

I am grateful for the sun and the rain, we need both!

I am grateful for my friends.

As my friend, Mrs Rodgers says: There is learning in everything we do, take the time to look and see!

I hope you enjoyed your day, please email me if needed:

Take care, Margot.

Home Learning: Online Resources

Dear Parents/Carers,

Here are a couple of websites you may find useful whilst in lockdown.

OXFORD READING TREE: E-READERS

With community libraries closed, this may be a useful resource. You do need to register to access the free e-book readers, but this is FREE. This website also contains access to some great ideas for teaching other areas of learning, including mathematics, at home.

OUR LEARNING South Australia

Advice and resources for all age groups, including Reception to Year 2, from South Australia’s Department for Education.

Good luck everyone and stay safe!

Home Learning | Wednesday | 21/7/21

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all well.  Today I am posting a general activity outline that you can pick and choose from.  I am aware that you may not have access to some of the resources suggested and that is OK, most of the activities are designed for you to use what you already have at home.
